Description
Grey Background. The edges have been trimmed, as many were, due to staining from poor storage at the BEP. The shield has been matted and is in a period frame. Fractional currency shields were produced from 1866-68 and were offered to banks for counterfeit detection purposes. Each shield includes 39 notes including 4 hand signed issues. Many have been lost over time due to the aforementioned damage or being broken up for the individual notes. Overall dimensions are approximately 24 by 27 inches
